Hydrated Ruthenium Dioxide
Hydrated ruthenium dioxide, also known as ruthenium dioxide hydrate or ruthenium(IV) hydroxide (RuO2·xH2O), is a black powder or deep blue crystalline substance. It is hygroscopic, soluble in molten alkali, and insoluble in water and ethanol. Hydrated ruthenium dioxide should be stored in sealed containers and kept in a cool, dry place, while avoiding exposure to oxidizing agents and alcohols to maintain its chemical stability.
Hydrated ruthenium dioxide is primarily used as a chemical catalyst in the chemical industry. It is an important raw material for manufacturing resistors and capacitors, and is also used in the preparation of ruthenium tetroxide (RuO4).
