Product description
Molecular formula: LiF
Physical properties: white cubic crystal or powder. Heat to 1100~1200℃ to volatilize. Its melting point is 462°C. Soluble in acid, slightly soluble in water (solubility in water at 25: 0.13G/100ml), insoluble in ethanol and acetone. The relative density (d20) is 2.640. The melting point is 848°C. The boiling point is 1681℃. Toxic, the minimum lethal dose (guinea pig, oral) 200mG/kG. It is irritating.
Chemical properties: It can produce lithium hydrogen fluoride (LiHF2) with hydrofluoric acid, and produce lithium fluoride and lithium hydroxide double salt (LiF•LiOH) with lithium hydroxide.
Application
Used as a desiccant. Flux. Flux for welding aluminum. Used in the production of prisms for infrared spectrophotometers. Manufacture of enamel and glaze. In the ceramic industry, it is used to reduce the temperature of the kiln and improve the resistance to thermal shock, abrasion and acid corrosion. Used as a flux for metal welding together with other fluorides, chlorides and borates. It is the basic component of fluorine electrolytic cell electrolyte. In high-temperature storage batteries in a molten state as the electrolyte component. Used as a carrier in a breeder reactor. A large number of fluxes and brazing fluxes used in aluminum and magnesium alloys are also used as additives to improve electrical efficiency in the electrolytic aluminum industry; used as a neutron shielding material in the atomic energy industry, as a solvent in molten salt reactors; in optical glass materials Used as a transparent window for ultraviolet rays (transmittance of 77-88%), and in the lithium battery industry.
