The chemical formula is OsO2, there are two crystal forms (1) The molecular weight is 222.20, it is an orange-brown crystal, and the relative density is 11.37 (21.4°C). When heated to 500°C, 30% is converted into osmium tetroxide. Insoluble in water and acids; (2) molecular weight 222.20, black powder, relative density 7.71 (21 ℃), heated to 350 ~ 400 ℃ into red-brown crystals. Insoluble in water, soluble in dilute hydrochloric acid. It is obtained by heating osmium powder in oxygen or by heating and decomposing osmium tetroxide.
